“I have participated in PBSC for the past two years: my first year with the New Brunswick Departments of Public Safety and Justice; my second, with Nature Trust New Brunswick. My responsibilities each year included researching legal issues, preparing memorandums, meeting with the interested parties, and presenting my findings. In each year, I explored legal issues in greater detail than can be covered in the classroom (if such issues arose in the classroom at all). Throughout the process, I have gained invaluable legal research and time management skills, and have been coaxed out of my comfort zone by participating in meetings and giving presentations. Most importantly, I’ve been able to contribute in a meaningful way to my community by finding answers to important legal questions. I recommend participating in PBSC: It provides a learning experience that cannot be duplicated in the classroom while working to alleviate the access to justice crisis in New Brunswick and across the country.”
