Organization
The organization provides information and support to family members, professionals, and individuals affected by Autism, encourages, supports, promotes and advocates for quality education, treatment, services and equipment for persons, and their families, affected by Autism, raises public awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorders and promotes and supports research into the cause and treatment of Autism.
Projects
- Students will address a section of these legal options by creating a plain language public legal education project on how parents can establish legal guardianship for their children after the age of 18. Students will focus on why one would chose to do this and how this can be set up (information, not advice). The deliverable may include information on how to set these documents up, who to consult and what could be included in them. The final project deliverable will be an infographic outlining the relevant information, as well as turning this information into a video presentation (students could film themselves talking, do it as a video presentation with PowerPoints or Prezi, etc).
- Students will address a section of these legal options by creating a plain language public legal education project on wills and legal trusts for parents of children with an exceptional need. Students will focus on how these documents can be used in various ways to protect/look after a parent’s exceptional need children financially following their death and how to do so (legal information not advice). The deliverable may include information on how to set these documents up, who to consult and what could (not should) be included in them. The final project deliverable will be an infographic outlining the relevant information, as well as turning this information into a video presentation (students could film themselves talking, do it as a video presentation with PowerPoints or Prezi, etc).
Volunteers
One student for each project. Project one can be any year but project two must be a student who has taken, or is enrolled in, wills and estates.
